The critical assumptions included in our general model of productivity are as follows:

    Productivity control

  • Ultimately all productivity is driven by humans.
    • Without a human brain no economic productivity would occur, therefore a human is required for all productivity.

    Productivity networks

  • Every individual, not living isolated in the wilderness, is part of at least one productivity network...
    • ...this network that may be a business, a market, an industry or economy as a whole.
  • No one person is totally in control of their productivity.
    • As all productivity requires at least one other person, total control is impossible.
  • No one person has total control of an organisation of two or more people to always have perfectly maximised productivity within that organisation.

  • Constant change

  • The world, the economy, markets, business and people are always changing.
  • No one person has permanently, perfectly optimised productivity.

  • Improvement desire

  • Humans will do whatever they can to maintain, optimise and improve their lives therefore given the right conditions, most people would like to do a better job and are currently trying to do a good job.

  • Observation & communication

  • Not all productivity issues are realised by an individual or communicated to others.

  • Value transfer

  • Of the productivity created by a person y, they will gain some portion of that y as financial reward x, where x is less than y.
  • Of the productivity created by a business y, it will receive some portion of that y as financial reward x, where x is less than y.
    • It is in the best interests of any business to share some portion of all productivity improvements with those who create them, to continue incentivising more improvement.
  • Of the productivity created by an economy y, it will receive some portion of that y as financial reward x, where x is less than y.
